विषय: ठाणेच कशासाठी ?
शिलाहारांच्या कालखंडात ठाणे हे राजधानीचे ठिकाण होते, ही माहिती सुपरिचित आहे. पण ठाणे तर त्याहीपूर्वी अस्तित्वात होते आणि जगभर परिचितही होते. शिलाहारांनंतरच्या कालखंडातही ठाण्याचे महत्त्व वाढतच गेले. पण ठाणेच का? ठाण्यात असे काय होते की, त्यामुळे ठाण्याची निवड ही राजधानी म्हणून करण्यात आली? राजधानीचे ठिकाण म्हणून निवड करण्यासाठी जमिनीची सुपिकता आणि गोड्या पाण्याचे मुबलक साठे एवढेच कारण होते की, आणखीही काही… पुरातत्वीय पुरावे नेमके काय सांगतात. ठाण्याचे महत्त्व नेमके कशात दडले आहे?
