Trek Details & Itinerary

The trek starts from the village of Ratanwadi.

The Trek Route

The path is well-defined but involves some steep sections and a few iron ladders.

  1. Ratanwadi to Amruteshwar Temple: The trek begins with a short 15-20 minute walk from the village to the Amruteshwar Temple, which is located on the banks of the Pravara River.
  2. Through the Forest: From the temple, the trail enters a dense forest. This section is mostly shaded and relatively cool, making it a pleasant start. You’ll cross a few small streams.
  3. The Plateau & Ladders: After the forest, you emerge onto an open plateau. The path then becomes steeper. You will encounter a series of rock-cut steps and a few iron ladders fixed to the rock face to aid the climb. This is the most adventurous part of the trek.
  4. Reaching the Fort Gates: After the ladders, a final climb takes you to the main entrance (Ganesh Darwaza) of the fort.
  5. Exploring the Fort Top: Once inside, the fort opens up. You can explore:
    • The caves (perfect for staying overnight).
    • Several water cisterns (most have potable water, especially post-monsoon).
    • The Nedhe (Eye of the Needle).
    • The highest point for stunning views.
