DESCRIPTION:One day Monsoon Trek Karnala Fort| Mumbai Mountain Hikers \nKarnala Fort is hill fort. It is situated in Raigad district. Height of Karnala Fort is about 1440 feet/439mtr. Karnala is easy trek and one day trekking spot. Karanala Fort also famous as Karnala Bird Sanctuary. Currently it is protected by forest department of Maharashtra. Karnala fort actually consists of two forts one at a higher level and other lower. At the centre of the higher level is a 125 feet high basalt pillar. It is also called Pandu’s tower. This structure was used as watchtower when the fort was occupied however now it is in a ruined condition. The presence of bee hives also makes it difficult to climb and have resulted in at least one casualty in recent times. DESCRIPTION:Monsoon Trek Kalsubai | Mumbai Mountain Hikers \nKalsubai peak height is 1646 meter (5400 feet). Kalsubai is Highest peak of Western Ghat/Sahayadri.  It is also known as Everest of Maharashtra. Various peak are situated around Kalsubai like the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej\, Harihargad\, Brahmagiri\, Anjaneri\, Ghargad\, Bahula\, Tringalwadi\, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha\, Vishramgad\, Bitangad\, to the west Alang\, Madangad\, Kulang\, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad\, Ghanchakkar\, Harishchandragad can be seen. \nThe peak attracts a large number of trekkers and devotees determined to scale the mountain. To reach the summit there are well designated trekking routes. The trek route is a mix of easy to ascend slopes as well as treacherous rocky outcrops overlooking the valley below. The government has built iron ladders along the vertical hill slopes. DESCRIPTION:Monsoon Trek Ratangad Fort | Mumbai Mountain Hikers \nRantangad Fort is located in Ahamadnagar district. Rantangad Fort base village is Ratanwadi. Rantangad Fort is about 400 years old. Rantangad Fort was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Raje Bhosle. Rantangad Fort is also known as Jewels of fort. Rantangad Fort is on the boundary of Ahmadnagar and Thane districts. The fort is origin for the river Pravara/Amrutvahini. The Bhandardara dam (arthar dam) is built on this river. From the top of the fort neighboring forts like Alang\, kulang\, Madan gad\, Harishchandragad\, Patta are seen easily. The view of entire Bhandardara dam( Lake Arthur) gives sheer pleasure. There are many rock cut water cisterns on the fort. Some of them store potable water throughout the year. There is a natural hole in the mountain top probably caused by wind erosion. It is 10 feet high and 60 feet wide.
