DESCRIPTION:PARVAT BUDDIES: Camping & offbeat trek to GHANCHAKKAR on 27-28th July 2024. \nSome Info about the place:GHANCHAKKAR (1532m/5026ft) is the third highest mountain in the state of Maharashtra after Kalsubai (1646m) and Salher (1567m). The steep slopes coupled with furious rains and winds make it one of the most challenging monsoon treks in the Sahyadri. Ghanchakkar is situated in the Bhandardara region and offers a grand view of Arthur Lake. Ratangad\, Pabargad\, Kalsubai\, Ajoba\, Katrabai are some other prominent peaks in the vicinity. \nNOTE:This trek is not meant for small kids and complete beginners. Fit individuals having good trekking shoes can attempt this trek under guidance of our experienced leaders. Bhimashankar is located in the village Bhorgiri in the ghat region of the Sahyadri range. Situated at an height of around 3\,250 feet\, Bhimashankar is surrounded by hills and is covered by thick green rainforests. Legend has it that the name Bhimashankar was originated from the river Bhima which evaporated due to the generated between the war of Lord Shiva and the demon Tripurasura. After breakfast start your trek to Valley of flowers. The journey to Valley of Flowers is a distance of 4 km. The valley is 6-7 km long and ends with a glacier\, the distance travelled in the valley depends on how the trekkers want to explore the valley. Right\, when you start from Ghangaria in 30 minutes forest check post arrives. The check post might not be an attraction but right before check post\, there is a gushing waterfall called Laxman waterfall. Another 20 minutes into the greenery and next furious attraction comes. At this point\, the Pushpavati river flows furiously below a wooden bridge. It is quite a common yet a unique and mesmerizing capture. The trail is steep and stone paved like the previous day. You can find many bridges and landslide areas when you enter the valley. The valley is thousand times stupendous than you might have imagined. One of the most revered of all Sikh Shrines\, The Hemkund Sahib\, the World’s Highest Gurdwara\, is situated at an altitude of 4\,329 meters. There will be porters and mules if you wish to offload your load. The trail today will be similar to previous days stone paved and continuous ascend. There will be shops on the way where you can energize yourself. Watch out for the rare flower Brahmakamal and blue poppy that will be spotted beside pathways. The Gurdwara is placed magically beside the mirror like glacial lake Hemkund. During clear skies\, one can witness the flawless reflections of the adjoining Saptrishi peaks. The lake is fed by melting glaciers of Hathi Parvat and Saptrishi peaks. Religious Laxman temple is also found near the lake. In the afternoon trek down 6km to reach Ghangaria for an overnight stay. Rajgad means King of all forts. Located south-west 40 Kms from Pune. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj spent a great deal of his time on this Fort close to 25 years. Rajgad is famous for its construction layout. The fort can be divided into four different parts based on geographical terrain and fortification. There are three sub-plateaux (Machee) namely Padmavati Machee\, Suvela Machee\, and Sanjevani Machee\, and at the center is the Ballekilla. \nTorna :-Torna fort previously known as Prachandagad\, the first fort captured by ShivajiMaharaj at the young age of 16\, Torna became the most glorious chapter in the history of Shivaji’s conquests. When Shivaji Maharaj took over this fort from Adil Shah (Sultan of Vijapur) this fort did not had too much construction on it. After capturing this fort\, Shivaji Maharaj started to construct some buildings on the forts and fortification for the fort. While construction ShivajiMaharaj also found a treasure on the fort!
