Along with being one of the tallest observatories in the world\, the high-altitude Indian Astronomical Observatory (IAO) is situated here at a height of 14\,764 feet. It features upgraded facilities for astronomy at night. Since 2001\, it has owned the two-meter Himalayan Chandra Telescope. At the Hanle site\, a seven-unit High Altitude Gamma Ray (HAGAR) telescope is also in use. The best would be to set up camp with a heavy comforter and a cup of hot tea and think about the universe as you stare into space\, though\, as Hanle is renowned for its clear sky. You can travel through the “moonscape” during the day to reach the stunning Tso Moriri Lake. Around 254 kilometres separate Leh from Hanle. After having breakfast\, reach Pahanala fort around 1:00pm. Lunch\, bike assembly and rest till 3:30pm\, followed by a guided tour of Panhala fort starting at 4:30pm. The tour will take around 1 hrs 30 mins\, after which everyone will have a choice to either stay at the hotel and rest\, or cycle up nearby Jyotiba climb. \nDelicious Kolhapuri Dinner in the evening around 8:00pm. \nDay 2: Panhala to Vishalgad via Pawankhind (80.5 kms) \nScenic ride after Malkapur\, with amazing roads and less traffic. The village is also known for its vibrant culture and cuisine\, with a mix of Israeli and Indian influences. \nThere are many popular trekking destinations in Kasol\, which takes you through stunning landscapes and offers breath-taking views of the Himalayas. The village is also home to many cafes and restaurants that serve delicious food\, including Israeli cuisine and local delicacies. \nHighlights: \nHike to Chalal \nHike to Grahan \nHike to Tosh \nManikaran Gurudwara & Temple \nLocal cafes \nItinerary \nDay 0: Drive from Delhi to Kasol (525 Kilometers\, 12 Hour drive) \nDepart by AC Volvo bus from Delhi (exact locations will be shared with the registered participants) \nDay 1: Hike to Chalal\, Café Hopping\, Local market \nOn your arrival\, check in at the hotel\, freshen up leave for chalal village. It is a 30-min hike through the woods. The village is surrounded by lush green forests and the sound of the Parvati river flowing nearby adds to the charm of the place. Chalal is also famous for its Israeli cuisine and you can find many cafes and restaurants serving delicious food. \nIn the evening\, we visit the Nature Kasol park\, & indulge in Café hopping. We then visit the famous Kasol market with numerous shops and stalls selling a variety of items including souvenirs\, clothes\, jewellery\, hippie handicrafts and accessories. You can also find shops selling local spices\, herbs\, and tea which are a specialty of the region. \nDinner followed by overnight stay in Kasol \nDay 2: Trek to Grahan Village (11-12 Kms) \nAfter breakfast we will start hiking towards Grahan village. \nGrahan village is a small remote village located in the Parvati Valley. It is situated at an altitude of 7\,700 feet above sea level and is accessible only by foot. The village is known for its scenic beauty\, untouched natural environment\, and as a base for trekking and hiking activities in the region. \nThe trek to Grahan village starts from Kasol and takes around 6-7 hours depending on your pace. The trail passes through dense forests\, rocky terrain\, and several small streams. It offers breath-taking views of the Parvati valley and the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas. \nIf time permits we shall head for the waterfall which is a 40 mins hike from Grahan village. \nAfter lunch we trek down and return by hired Jeep vehicles. \nDinner followed by overnight stay in kasol \nDay 3: Manikaran\, Hike to Tosh (3-4 Kms)\, Back to Kasol \nAfter breakfast we leave for Manikaran Gurudwara. It is a holy Sikh shrine in the Parvati Valley of Himachal Pradesh. \nManikaran Shiva Temple\, you will be amazed to see freezing water in the Parvati River on one side and boiling hot water spring on the other. This is the beauty of Manikaran. \nAfter we drive to Barshaini & start hiking towards Tosh. Tosh being the last village is known for its beautiful waterfalls\, traditional wooden houses\, snow-capped mountains & Pine trees.
