DESCRIPTION:Monsoon Trek Kalsubai | Mumbai Mountain Hikers \nKalsubai peak height is 1646 meter (5400 feet). Kalsubai is Highest peak of Western Ghat/Sahayadri.  It is also known as Everest of Maharashtra. Various peak are situated around Kalsubai like the north of the mountain range forts such as Ramsej\, Harihargad\, Brahmagiri\, Anjaneri\, Ghargad\, Bahula\, Tringalwadi\, Kavnai can be seen. To the east one can spot Aundha\, Vishramgad\, Bitangad\, to the west Alang\, Madangad\, Kulang\, Ratangad (south west) and to the south Pabhargad\, Ghanchakkar\, Harishchandragad can be seen. \nThe peak attracts a large number of trekkers and devotees determined to scale the mountain. To reach the summit there are well designated trekking routes. The trek route is a mix of easy to ascend slopes as well as treacherous rocky outcrops overlooking the valley below. The government has built iron ladders along the vertical hill slopes. DESCRIPTION:Ratangad fort is the jewel in all the hill forts in Sahyadri. It lies in the Ajoba mountain range\, surrounded by the great mountains of Kulang\, Alang\, Kalsubai\, Katarabai\, Ajoba\, and Ghanchakkar. The view of entire Bhandardara dam( Lake Arthur) gives sheer pleasure. It also has a natural rock cavity through which the sky can be seen. It is called Nedhe or eye of the needle.Ratangad was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and was one of his favorites. “Ratan” means Jewel in Hindi and indeed it is jewel in all the hill forts here in Sahyadri \nAt the base of this fort is the ancient Lord Shiva Amruteshwar temple.
