The Balpakram Baghmara Landscape of the South Garo Hills includes Balpakram National Park\, Siju Wildlife Sanctuary\, Baghmara Reserve Forest and community owned land which totals an area of 600 sq. km. The South Garo Hills is extremely rich in biodiversity\, offering tremendous opportunities to experience breathtaking flora and fauna. The landscape is extremely rich in butterfly diversity with an excess of 350 species\, which includes some of the rarest butterflies in the country. Some of the charismatic species of butterflies the Kohinoor\, Yellow Gorgon\, Western Jungle Queen\, and Marble Map are found here. Besides butterflies the landscape is also home to 85 mammal species including the Hoolock Gibbon\, Asian Elephant\, Stumped-tail Macaque\, Capped Langur\, Himalayan Black Bear\, and Clouded Leopard.
