Tung Fort Monsoon Trek

About Tung (Kathingad):

Tung Fort was built before 1600 CE. It was built by the Adil Shahi dynasty but was captured by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj . It is small, and not able to hold more than 200 troops at a time. As such, it would not have been able to defend itself on its own for a long time. Its shape and structure suggest that its main function was as a watchtower guarding the road to Pune city.

During invasion, it served to provide a temporary distraction for invaders. Thus, the major forts of Visapur and Lohagad would have time to prepare themselves to meet the invading army. This fort served as a watchtower in the past because from top of the fort, a lot of area in the Maval region of the Pawana and Mulshi valleys can be seen, and thus, from the top of the fort, a watch on these areas can be kept. In 1657, it became a part of Swarajya with all other forts situated in Maval region.

DETAILED ITINERARY:

05:00 AM : Report at Borivali National Park Gate
09:00 AM : Restroom break at food court Lonavala
10:30 AM : Reach base village and have breakfast
11:00 AM : After brief instructions start with the trek.
12:30 PM : Summit the fort and explore
01:30 PM : Start descent.
02:30 PM : Reach base village and freshen up for lunch
03:00 PM : Lunch time
04:00 AM : Board the bus towards Mumbai
08:00 PM : Reach Borivali National Park

● Cap, camera, mobile phones, socks, extra pairs of clothes. (if required)
● Any personal medicines

RULES:
● In mountains & jungles, smoking/spraying deodorants attract honeybees and one has to face a dangerous “honeybee attack” where survival of the person is difficult, hence smoking/deodorants is strictly prohibited.
● Drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited. If found will be expelled from the group.
● The leader’s decision will be final and binding.
● Sahasi Sahyadri reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice.
● Telephonic confirmation for booking is mandatory; if unable to contact us then send a text message and we will call you back.
● Please do not carry handbags or jholas or sling bags on treks.
● Please do not carry or wear any valuables, ornaments, jewelry, etc. If carried, then we do not take any liability for the same.
● Trekking Shoes (Action Trekking or Coaster CTR Shoes are recommended, Avoid Forclaz/Quechua/Running/Other Sports Shoes for Treks in Maharashtra)

REFUNDS OR CANCELLATIONS:
● If cancellation is done prior to 7 days of the outing 75% will be refunded.
● If done prior to 3 days of outing 30% will be refunded.
● After that, no refund will be provided.
● If the event is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, participants have the option to adjust the paid amount with any forthcoming event or ask for a complete refund.
