Kedarnath:

The Kedarnath shrine is one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, situated against the backdrop of the magnificent Kedarnath range. Legend has it that after the battle of Mahabharata, Pandavas were filled with guilt and grief of having killed their own cousins and decided to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. However, Lord Shiva eluded them and took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull and when followed by Pandavas, he dived into the ground, leaving his hump behind. It is believed that the arms of Lord Shiva appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, his belly at Madmaheshwar and his head with hair at Kalpeshwar.

Badrinath:

Badrinath was re-established as a major pilgrimage site by Adi Shankara in the 8th century. In earlier days, pilgrims used to walk hundreds of miles to visit the Badrinath temple.

The temple has been repeatedly destroyed by earthquakes and avalanches. As late as the First World War, the town consisted only of the 20-odd huts used by the temple’s staff, but the site drew thousands each year and up to 50,000 on its duo decennial festivals (every twelve years). In recent years its popularity has increased still more, with an estimated 600,000 pilgrims visiting during the 2006 season compared to 90,676 in 1961. The temple in Badrinath is also a sacred pilgrimage site for Vaishnavites. Badrinath is also gateway to several mountaineering expeditions headed to mountains like Nilkantha.

Day 01: Reach Haridwar railway station
14:00 Hrs: Meet The Trikon Team at Haridwar railway station/ airport
15:30 Hrs: Journey starts for Haridwar by private vehicle

Day 02: Haridwar to Guptakashi (210km)
05:00 Hrs: Good Morning!! Freshen up and have Breakfast
07:00 Hrs: Get Ready for Guptakashi. Guptkashi is situated 47 kms before the holy shrine of Lord Shiva, Kedarnath. It is located on the route to Kedarnath on a ridge on the west side of the Mandakini river valley at an elevation of 1319 mts above sea level. Guptkashi is a religiously important town of Uttarakhand as it houses ancient temples like Vishwanath temple and Ardhnareshwar temple.

Day 03: Guptakashi to Kedarnath Temple (21km)
03:00 am Good Morning Mountains!! Freshen up and Have Tea/Coffee and get ready
04:00 am Post breakfast, it’s time for Kedarnath Trek (21 Kms)

Will be travelling till Sonprayag base by transport. Trek will start from Sonprayag.

02:00 pm Reach Kedarnath and freshen-up. Visit Kedarnath temple, attend evening aarti and seek blessings of Lord Shiva.

Day 04: Kedarnath To Guptkashi (21 km)
05:00 am : Waking up to beautiful sunrise and spiritual view of Kedarnath Temple
08:00 am : Post breakfast, it’s time for Kedarnath to Sonprayag by trail (21 Kms)
12:00 pm: Reach Sonprayag and get ready for Guptkashi by private vehicle after lunch

Day 05: Guptkashi to Joshimath (160km)
06:00 am Good Morning!! Waking up to beautiful sunrise view, Freshen up and get ready for Joshimath post Breakfast

Day 06: Joshimath to Badrinath (50km)
05:00 am: Wakeup call and get ready for Badrinath Temple
