Kudremukh is touted as one of the best treks of South India. It will surprise you with its pleasing landscapes at every turn. The word “Kudremukh” in Kannada means “horse face”, as one of the sides of the mountain resembles the shape of a horse face. It is the third highest peak in Karnataka located inside a protected forest known for its biodiversity and Tigers.
Grade: Medium. You need to cover 22kms trek (uphill and downhill) within 8 hours. You need to have recent trek experience or a regular fitness lifestyle i.e. activities like running, sports etc.
Brief Itinerary:
#Saturday,
15:00 – Start traveling from Mumbai by Matsyagandha Exp
#Sunday
05:00 – Reach Byndoor Station and travel to Kollur in bus through the ghats.
07:00 – Reach Kollur and have breakfast. Then we will have darshan in Mookambika temple.
16:00 – Reach our homestay at Samse and enjoy the local coffee.
20:00 – Dinner
#Monday
05:00 – Get up early, have breakfast and get ready for the trek
07:00 – Reach the starting point of the trek in a jeep
11:30 – Reach Kudremukh and enjoy the million dollar views of the surrounding valley. We will have packed lunch here.
19:00 – Start traveling back to Udupi.
23:00 – Start traveling to Mumbai by Netravati.
