Built about 800 years ago, possibly by the Bhoj rulers, at a height of 3,200 ft. lies Kohoj Fort in Palghar.
The fort is one of the few hill forts captured from the Sultan of Gujarat by the Portuguese after the Treaty of Bassein.
This fort was also one of the 22 forts given away by Shivaji to the Mughals in the Treaty of Purandar in 1665. This is the famous Treaty after which Shivaji and his son went to the Mughal court in Agra to meet Aurangzeb.
The top of the fort has some amazing natural rock formations and some ruins of the fort that once stood there. From there one can see the Arabian Sea, the surrounding forts of Tandulwadi and Asheri and the waters of Vaitarna hydrating the land.
Join us, Swadesi Treks as we make our way through the unexplored greenery of Manor and Wada to visit the fort of Kohoj on 29th October, 2022. (Saturday)
