Trek to Kalsubai

Standing tall at 5,400 feet, Kalsubai is the highest peak in Maharashtra, located in the Ahilyanagar district within the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. The trek starts from Bari village, about 180 km from Pune. Legend has it that Kalsubai was a young village girl who sought refuge atop the mountain to escape social injustice, and a temple in her memory stands at the summit. The trail involves steep climbs aided by iron ladders and railings, making it thrilling yet accessible. From the top, one can soak in views of surrounding peaks like Alang, Madan, and Kulang. A monsoon and winter favourite, Kalsubai offers a mix of spiritual reverence, stunning scenery, and physical challenge.
