Trek To Harihar Fort

SURVIVORS Have Organized a Trek to “HARIHAR FORT” on 1st June 2025

Short Information

The Fort of Harihar, lying on Trimbak range, was of significant importance in earlier periods, as there used to be a route crossing this range connecting Maharashtra to Gujarat.
Trimbak range has spread its arms to the north of Igatpuri and west of Nasik. It is divided mainly in two parts, with forts of Basgad, Utvad, hill of Fani, Harihar and Trimbakgad on one part while the forts of Anjaneri and Hargad on the other. Vaitarna is the main river in this region. But due to the one – sided slope of Sahyadri, the water flows away from this region. There is an absolute shortage of water from January to March in this region.
The fort appears to be rectangular in shape from its base village. While climbing the fort, we come across a rock-sheet, which has got steps carved in it. Also many grooves have been carved here for additional support. After climbing these steps, we get upto the entrance door. There is a cavern ahead of this door. Again we come across few steps after a short distance walk from this cavern. On climbing these steps we reach to the main entrance door of this fort. The fort has got a tapering plateau with a raised level in the middle.
One secret – door is located at the edge of this fort, but the way to this door has now got blocked. There is a small temple of Lord Hanumana and Lord Shiva on the plateau. A small pond is there in front of this temple. Water from this pond can be used for drinking. Making headway from here we come across a palace having two rooms in it. 10 to 12 persons can be accommodated in this palace. There are five cisterns along one side of the palace, one of which has water suitable for drinking.

*Day 0: Saturday (31/05/2025)*

07:30 pm: Meet near thane station (west) platform No. 1 ticket counter.
07:58 pm: Board in Train for Kasara

*Day 1: Sunday (01/06/2025)*

9:45 pm: Reach Kasara Station
10:00 pm: Travel by private vehicle from kasara to Base village
04.00am: Reach at base village Nirgudpada Reach rest at base village for 1 hour freshen-up, breakfast and Introduction Round. (No arrangements for Bathing – one has to take care of their own)
07:00 am: Post breakfast at 7:00 am will start the Trek to HARIHARGAD
10.30 am: Reach top and Explore Fort
11.30 am: Descend Towards Base Village
02.30 pm: With the thrill of steps of Harihar reach on top and explore surrounding.
01.15 pm: Reach Base village & Have Lunch
03.00 pm: Will leave for Kasara by Private Vehicle
06:00 pm: Reach Kasara Tentatively

*RULES*
1. Smoking and drinking alcohol is strictly prohibited.
2. Trek leader’s decision will be final and binding.
3. Survivors reserves all the right to change/deviate/cancel the plans without prior notice.
4. Telephonic confirmation is mandatory, if unable to contact send us a text message.
5. Sleeveless, low neck, figure hugging shirts/tops, short pants, hot pants not allowed.
6. Please avoid wearing Gold and other jewellery (at your own risk)
7. Please do not carry handbags or Jolas or Sling bags. Payment made is non refundable and non transferable.

COVID -19 Checklist for Participants:
Any travel history to/from any foreign country/containment or red zone in the past 14 days
Any symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 during the past 14 days
Age above 45 yrs participants are not allowed to join any events till further notice
Trekkers must carry sufficient amount of sanitizer, masks, gloves, and a personal medical kit for the respective days of the trek.
Trekkers must also carry their separate set of disposable/washable utensils like spoon, plates or cups. This must be used by trekkers during their journey to and fro the base camp.
Apart from the above, trekkers must make sure they carry all the required things, Remember no sharing will be allowed. Trekkers will be responsible for disposable of their own items.

COVID -19 Guidelines for Participants:
Mask is compulsory to join for any events
Keep at least 1 meter distance during all social and inter personal interactions, trekking
Avoid Touching frequently touched objects and surfaces with bare hands
Living with Corona is the new normal. We must learn to take care of ourselves. It is our responsibility to keep ourselves and our Nation safe from Corona. While doing that we must follow our dreams too.

Notes: Please keep in mind that we shall change our policies and procedures based on Government regulations in future. As you know, there can be last-minute announcements and we will have to follow them. However, we shall try to abide by the Government rules keeping in mind the welfare of our trekkers.
