Raigad Pradakshina, or Raigad Fort Parikrama, is a circular trek around the base of Raigad Fort in Maharashtra, India:
- What it’s about: A lesser-explored path that takes you around the fort’s perimeter, offering a closer look at the fort’s fortifications, walls, and bastions. It also allows you to explore the surrounding natural beauty and wilderness.
- Difficulty: The Raigad Fort trek is considered medium difficulty, and it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the top.
- Trail length: The trail is about 15 km long.
- Significance: The trail is considered sacred by followers of Shivaji Maharaj, who can walk around the capital of the Maratha Kingdom.
- Nearby attractions: You can visit Rajmata Jijau Samadhi and Wada at Pachad village.
- Other features of Raigad Fort: The fort overlooks an artificial lake called the Ganga Sagar Lake. The main pathway to the fort passes through the Maha Darwaja (Huge Door).
