Event Description: If you are a trekking enthusiast, then Kalsubai Trek deserves a spot on your must-visit list. Located in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, Kalsubai is the highest point in Maharashtra, at a staggering height of 5400 ft. above sea level. The peak is rightly called ‘Everest of Maharashtra’.
Standing tall at 5400 ft, we certainly intend to reach out to the stars. Fortunately, a night trek comes with a lot of perks such as trekking under starry skies, seeing the mountains in a whole new light and a whole other natural aweing experiences we can’t pretty much put into words. The big prize at the summit is the sight of the magical sunrise complimented with the most breathtaking views all observed from the highest structure in all of Maharashtra. Trust us, this is as high as you can get!

About the location : Kalsubai is a mountain in the Western Ghats, located in the Indian state of Maharashtra. Its summit, situated at an elevation of 1,646 metres (5,400 ft), is the highest point in Maharashtra.
The mountain range lies within the Kalsubai Harishchandragad Wildlife Sanctuary. It is visited throughout the year by avid trekkers, Kalsubai temple devotees and wildlife enthusiasts alike
The name Kalsubai has been given to the woman who used to live in this mountain according to the villagers living at the base of Kalsubai mountain. It is said that a woman named Kalsubai was punished by the villagers and forced to leave the village, that woman climbed this mountain and started living on it and died there. That’s how the name of this mountain Kalsubai came.

Trip Itinerary: –
– Meet at Kasara railway station at 11.30pm on day 1
– Reach base village of the kalsubai (Bari village) by 1.00am on day 2
– Rest for sometime before we start the trek.
– Begin our trek to the summit at 1.15am
– Reach the summit by 5am and await the magic of sunrise
– Bask in the sights atop the summit for a brief duration.
– Begin trek downhill between 8.30am (Breakfast will be served at the peak)
– Reach base village and board the vehicle towards Kasara.

Difficulty level: –
The difficulty level of this trek is Moderate.
This means the ease of climbing up to the summit is Moderate.
Uphill is approx 5 hours of trekking while downhill is shorter. There will be stops during the trek for rest and rehydration.
If you haven’t been for a trek, you should know that there is a lot of walking.
At every summit, you are welcomed to the most majestic views & at the end of every trek, you learn that you are taking back home lifetime memories
How to pack and prepare:
– Grab a small to medium sized bag and put in items mentioned in our Essentials list.
The less heavier your bag is, the easier your trek will be.

– 2-3 litres of water
– Clothes to keep you warm (warm jacket)
Head lamp/ torch
– Snacks and munchies to keep you high on energy
– Personal Identification
– Personal medication if any

A Sturdy Pair Of Shoes: – This is CRUCIAL as a bad pair could turn your trek into a nightmare. Check your shoes for possible wear and tear.

The Right Clothing: – T-shirt & shorts/full pants is ideal. Ensure that you are comfortable in what you choose to wear and that the material does not restrict your movement while trekking and climbing. Full clothing is recommended.

A trek in the forest requires for one to stay positive and open minded at all times regardless of the situation. Mind you, this is not a picnic but a trek in the mountains. Mother nature could choose for the weather and environment to be tough or easy on us. However it is important for us to stay grounded and keep our heads over our shoulders, not to panic and to keep confidence in the decision of the trek leaders.
