The “Nageshwar Cave/Temple” is dedicated to the lord Shankara. The pinnacle appears to look like the eyes and hood of a Cobra (‘Nag’ in Marathi). Due to this the place appears to have got its name “Nageshwar”.
A very unique natural phenomenon to observe here is – A small stream of water that performs ‘Abhishek’ on the Shiv Linga all year round even in dry seasons. The natural stream of water percolates down from the mountaintop and falls exactly on the Shiva Linga. On the side of the Shivling, there is a trident and two or three idols in the broken stem from the Nandi stone.
