Monsoon Trail at Malshej Ghat
Situated 154 km away from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai, Malshej Ghat is known for misty hilltops, gushing waterfalls and breathtaking landscapes. During this season the Malshej Ghat Plateau comes alive with a plethora of flowers. Yellow Bane, Tutari, Konkan Pinda, Single Leaved Habenaria, Common and Hill Balsam, Mumbai Senecio (Sonki), and carnivore plants like Bladderwort can also be seen. Malshej is home to Maharashtra’s state animal, the shy Malabar Giant Squirrel.
Grade: Easy (2–3 km of easy walk)
Reporting: Bus will leave from Dadar T.T. (near Chandu Halwai) at 6:00 a.m. Chembur (Amar Mahal Jn) at 06:20 a.m., Vikhroli (Jogeshwari-Vikroli Jn) at 6.30 a.m, Thane (Cadbury Jn.) at 06:40 a.m. and Kalyan (Birla College) at 07:10 a.m.
The group should be back to late evening at Dadar.
Charges: Rs. 1,800/- for members, Rs.2,000/- for others.
Cost includes: Transport (ex-dadar) by bus, Entry ticket (if any) and BNHS expertise only.
