Mangrove Walk at Bhandup Pumping Station
Mangroves are intertidal plants found along parts of both the east and west coasts of Mumbai. By arresting wind and tidal force they provide a sort of a ‘sheltered Harbour’ for aquatic, avian, and other biodiversity and also act as a buffer between land and sea. Join BNHS this season for a Mangrove Walk to study these fascinating plants. During the trail one could spot White Mangrove (Avicennia), Milky Mangrove (Excoecaria), Loop-Root Mangrove (Rhizophora). Besides the true mangrove species the area is home to associate plants like Meswak Nipa Palm, and Portia tree.
