Kedarnath Mandir is one of the high-altitude Shiva mandirs in India. It is one of the 12 jyotirlingas and is looked upon with perhaps more dedication than other 11 jyotirlingas. The earliest mention of KedarnathDham is from Skanda Purana dated 7th or 8th Century. It is also believed that Adi Shankaracharya attained Moksha here. Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar funded for restoration and conservation of the temple along with construction of shelters for devotees visiting the place.
Badrinath is one of the four main Dhams of Hindu Dharma. It is also prominent for the Chhota dham Yatra. This Dham was established by Adi Shankarachrya. Although there are no known historical records, Badrinath is mentioned in Vedic Scriptures and in Vishnu and Skanda Purana. Badarinath is one of the holy shrines for Vaishnavites among the 108 incarnations of Lord Vishnu. Badrinath is also the part of Panch Badri temples including Yog Dhyan Badri, Bhavishya Badri, Adi Badri and Vriddha Badri, along with Badrinath temple.
Both the temples remain closed for about 6 months from Diwali to Second month of Hindu Calander.
