Explore the historical Kavnai Fort, located approximately 150km from Mumbai on the Trimbakeshwar road. This fort holds significant religious and historical importance, once visited by Saint Dnyaneshwar. Built by the Moghuls and later captured by the British, the fort offers a fascinating journey through time.
The trek route is of medium grade, with stone ladders leading to the main entrance of the fort. Safety measures, including an iron ladder, are in place for trekkers. At the top, you’ll be greeted by strong winds and breathtaking panoramic views. Don’t miss the beautiful water pond and water cisterns!
Details for the trek:
Catch CST-KASARA Fast Train (Timings: CST 6.55 AM, Kurla 7.15, Thane 7.34, Dombivli 7.49, Kalyan 7.57, Asangaon 8.36, Kasara 9.14)
Arrival at Kasara at 9.20 am
Breakfast and travel to the base village Kavnai
Hike Kavnai Fort, reach the top at 1.00 pm
Time for lunch, exploration, and descent
Return to Kasara by 6.00 pm and Dadar by 8.30 pm
Things to carry: Shoulder sack, 2 liters of water, personal medicines, sturdy shoes, camera (optional), windcheater, and extra clothes.
The cost of the trek is Rs 700/- per head, including transport, breakfast, and guide expertise. Lunch and train tickets are not included.
Registration is only through phone calls. If unanswered, send a message with “Kavnai trek enquiry” and you will be called back. Transfer Rs 800/- per head to Divakar K. Satam’s account and email the transaction ID along with participant details to divakar.satam@gmail.com.
