Harishchandragad is one of Maharashtra’s most ancient and historically rich forts, nestled in the Malshej Ghat region of the Western Ghats at an altitude of 1422 meters. Its history dates back to the 6th century, with references found in sacred texts such as the Matsyapurana, Agnipurana, and Skandapurana. Archaeological findings also indicate the presence of Microlithic civilization in this region.
The fort is renowned for its architectural and spiritual landmarks, including the Harishchandreshwar Temple, the Kedareshwar Cave with its naturally formed Shiva Linga, and ancient caves carved around the 11th century. The legendary Konkan Kada offers a dramatic cliff view overlooking the Konkan plains, while Taramati Peak provides a mesmerizing sunrise experience. Once ruled by the Mahadev Koli tribe, later taken over by the Mughals and finally captured by the Marathas in 1747, Harishchandragad beautifully blends history, spirituality, natural beauty, and adventure—making it a favorite destination for trekkers and explorers alike.

Saturday, 21st February 2026:

02:00 AM – Reach base village Pachnai
02:00 – 02:30 AM – Freshen up, briefing & preparation
02:30 AM – Start night trek towards Harishchandragad
05:30 AM – Reach Konkan Kada
– Experience the magical pre-sunrise atmosphere

06:15 AM – Reach Taramati Peak
– Witness a stunning sunrise
– Relax, photography & group interaction
08:00 AM – Breakfast & tea on the fort
08:30 – 10:30 AM – Fort exploration
