About Kothaligad:
Kothaligad is Situated near Karjat, in the Bhimashankar forest reserve, Kothaligad or Peth is a well-known fort among the trekkers for its easy climb. Kothaligad was mainly used as a watch tower and an ammunition depot and was a geographically important fort in both the Maratha and Mughal empires. As this fort is located on the verge of Konkan, control over this fort meant control over the Konkan region below the fort.
The primary attractions on this fort are the big and spacious rock carved caves, water cisterns and the steps carved from inside a rock leading to the top of the Pinnacle. The view from the top of the pinnacle is not only beautiful, but helps you observe the forts around.
