Before starting the Bhimashankar pilgrimage, pay obeisance to your family deity (Kul Daivat). 2. Book your travel tickets and accommodation for Bhimashankar in advance. 3. Take a bath and wear clean clothes before entering the temple. 4. Meditate on Lord Shiva inside the temple. 5. Maintain complete silence inside the temple and chant “Om Namah Shivaya”. 6. Respect the ancient customs and beliefs while in Bhimashankar. 7. Respect the religious sentiments of fellow pilgrims. 8. Follow the temple procedures and wait for the opportunity to have darshan of the Lord. ## What not to do 1. Avoid carrying too much jewellery and cash when you visit the temple. 2. Do not wear shoes or slippers in and around the temple premises. 3. Do not prostrate yourself in the temple. 4. Do not throw Prasad and Tirtha in the temple premises. 5. Do not eat meat or consume alcohol or other intoxicants within the temple premises. 6. Do not wear any headguards like helmets and caps inside the temple premises. 7. Do not commit any act of violence or cruelty in the temple premises. 8. Don’t rush for darshan. Wait for your chance. 9. Do not encourage beggars. 10. Do not spit or create disturbance in the temple premises. 11. Do not carry any weapons into the temple premises. -
