Fort Vasota is a hill fort nestled within the dense forests of the Koyna River basin in Maharashtra. In the *Dnyaneshwari*, the name ‘Vasota’ is interpreted as a ‘place of refuge’ or ‘sanctuary.’ Vasota is also known by the name ‘Vyaghragad’ (The Fort of Tigers).
Situated within the catchment area of the Koyna Dam—specifically within the Shivsagar Reservoir—this region is extremely remote and teeming with wildlife. Consequently, a visit to Vasota Fort proves to be an unforgettable experience. 🌳🐾

🏞️ वासोटा ट्रेक 🏞️
महाराष्ट्रातील कोयना नदीच्या खोऱ्यात, निबिड अरण्यात वसलेला दुर्ग म्हणजे किल्ले वासोटा. ज्ञानेश्वरीत वासोट्याचा अर्थ ‘आश्रयस्थान’ असा दिला आहे. वासोट्यालाच ‘व्याघ्रगड’ असेही नाव आहे.
कोयना धरणाच्या पाणलोट क्षेत्रात, शिवसागर जलाशयात असल्यामुळे हा परिसर अत्यंत दुर्गम व वन्यजीवनाने समृद्ध आहे. त्यामुळे वासोटा किल्ल्याची भेट एक अविस्मरणीय अनुभव ठरते. 🌳🐾
